Differences of Relationships between Iodine and Trace Elements in Normal Thyroid and Thyroid Benign Nodules Revealed by X-Ray Fluorescent Analysis

چکیده

Thyroid Benign Nodules (TBN) are the most common lesions of this endocrine gland. The etiology TBN is not clear. aim exploratory study was to examine differences in content bromine (Br), cooper (Cu), iron (Fe), iodine (I), rubidium (Rb), strontium (Sr), and zinc (Zn), as well I/Br, I/Cu, I/Fe, I/Rb, I/Sr, I/Zn ratios tissues normal thyroid TBN. tissue levels seven Trace Elements (TEs) were prospectively evaluated 105 apparently healthy persons 79 patients with Measurements performed using 109Cd 241Am radionuclide-induced energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescent analysis. Tissue samples divided into two portions. One used for morphological while other intended TEs It observed that mass fraction Br, Cu, Fe higher, whereas fractions I lower than thyroid. These changes can potentially be markers. Furthermore, it found Fe, Rb, Sr, Zn contents affected gland interconnected depend on tissue. Because plays a decisive role function gland, data obtained allow us conclude that, along I, at least such Zn, if directly, then indirectly, involved process hormone synthesis.

Computerize classification of Benign and malignant thyroid nodules by ultrasound imaging

Introduction: Early detection and treatment of thyroid nodules increase the cure rate and provide optimal treatment. Ultrasound is the chosen imaging technique for assessment of thyroid nodules. Confirmation of the diagnosis usually demands repeated fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB). So, current management, has morbidity and non zero mortality. The goal of the present study ...

Investigation of heavy trace elements in neoplastic and non-neoplastic human thyroid tissue: A study by proton-induced X-ray emissions.

Background: Within the context of developing techniques to facilitate the diagnosis of the thyroid diseases, the elemental composition of pathological thyroid tissue (neoplastic and non-neoplastic) was investigated by proton induced X-ray emission. The PIXE has been widely used as a sensitive technique for trace elemental analysis in both biological and medical fields. Materials and Methods: Th...

The Effect of Oral Selenium on the Size of Thyroid Nodules in Patients with Benign Thyroid nodules: A Brief Study

Objective: The thyroid gland is susceptible to the formation of nodules. Therefore, due to the critical role of selenium in the function of the thyroid gland, the impact of this element on the size and volume of this organ and its nodules were examined. Materials and Methods: During three months, two groups consisting of 30 patients with benign thyroid nodules who were referred to Baghaeipour ...

Incidence of Goiter with Benign and Malignat Thyroid Nodules Following Radiotherapy of Scalp in Childhood

We examined 812 subjects with a history of radiation to the head for the treatment of scalp worm infestation in during childhood. 36% of the subjects had goiters grades IA and II3. Another 134 subjects ( 17%) were found to have thyroid nodularity, 85 of whom bad solitary cold nodules. 43 patients whith either a solitary cold nodule or a multinodular goiter with a priominent cold nodule were ope...

Trace elements and thyroid cancer.

To evaluate the importance of trace amounts of elements in thyroid cancer etiology and diagnostics, instrumental neutron activation analysis has been used to estimate Ag, Co, Cr, Fe, Hg, I,Rb, Sb, Sc, Se, and Zn concentrations in malignant and benign thyroid nodules as well as in apparently intact paranodular thyroid tissue. Resected material from 135 patients was obtained from operations. Fort...
